Drawing from the lineage of Wes Montgomery, Pat Martino, George Benson, and John Scofield, the band blends classic jazz standards with modern interpretations and original compositions. With an emphasis on groove, melodic improvisation, and deep swing, they deliver dynamic performances that honor tradition while pushing the music forward.

Mind Beach is the newest project led by Asheville bassist and composer Quinn Sternberg. The band is quickly gaining a following throughout the Carolinas for both their daring improvised forays and their commitment to song craft. Mind Beach is constantly evolving and adding new repertoire while also performing music from Sternberg’s five studio albums. The sound is fluid and genre-defying, drawing influence from all styles of music to create an intriguing yet universal sound that DownBeat Magazine has described as “complex yet digestible.”


Joining Quinn in the band are three of Asheville’s most sought after players, Jacob Rodriguez (sax), Alex Taub (keys), and Joe Enright (drums). Together the quartet communicate seamlessly, combining their personalities and musical tendencies into one common sound. With every performance Mind Beach brings a fresh and explorative energy to Sternberg’s compositions, sharing a raw and honest musical experience with their audience.

Davis—whose 40+ year career includes work with legends like Donald Byrd and Wallace Roney—pairs with internationally renowned bassist Steve LaSpina, a longtime collaborator of Stan Getz and Chet Baker with over 275 recordings to his name, and sought-after drummer Justin Watt, a former member of the Glenn Miller Orchestra and a mainstay of the Southeast jazz scene. A longtime collaborator with icons including Stan Getz, Benny Carter, Phil Woods, Joe Williams, Clark Terry, Chet Baker, Randy Brecker, Pat Martino, and Jim Hall, LaSpina has appeared on more than 275 recordings as both leader and sideman. His recordings as a bandleader and decades of international touring reflect a playing style defined by deep musical integrity. After Ours is a two-man wrecking crew with influences ranging from modern jazz to grunge to instrumental hip hop & experimental music. Hybrid 7-string guitarist/loop aficionado Eli Kahn creates sonic layer cakes with the aid of his effects arsenal, while drummer Joe Enright's ever-expansive jazz beat backdrops create a sound that is all their own. Since the band's inception in 2015, After Ours has built a following with their dynamic live performances all over the Midwest and Southeast. The band's most recent release, "Music for Cats", is an homage to the cinematic psychedelia & jazz fusion that has shaped their musical path.

When the originators of the Asheville Original Music series—bassist Mike Holstein and drummer Justin Watt—teamed up with pianist Dr. William Bares (Harvard ethnomusicology Ph.D and professor of music at UNC Asheville) a decade ago to create a working jazz piano trio, the result was a new musical concept that has blurred the lines between art and entertainment, structure and spontaneity. The group has evolved a sound that combines elements of global music, Americana and jazz in ways that are recognizably artistic and quintessentially Ashevillian.

Members of this ensemble have been sharing sounds and stages with each other for 25 years and counting. Jean and Jacob first met in their undergrads at Manhattan School of Music in 2001. Jean Caze is a dynamic jazz trumpeter, composer, and educator known for his lyrical tone and inventive improvisation, blending his Haitian roots with modern jazz. A Queens, NY native, he has performed with legends like Herbie Hancock and Aretha Franklin and is a featured soloist with Michael Bublé. He’s joined by Jacob Rodriguez, a longtime member of Bublé’s band whose playing appears on Grammy-winning albums including Michael Bublé Meets Madison Square Garden, Crazy Love, and Higher. Born in Seattle and raised in San Antonio, Rodriguez honed his craft in New York at the Manhattan School of Music, performing with artists such as Aretha Franklin and Ambrose Akinmusire before joining Bublé at 26. Join them as they perform their original compositions as well as re-arrangements of jazz classics and re-imaginations of music by Phoebe Bridgers, Sufjan Stevens, and others with support from an all-star trio of Alex Taub, Quinn Sternberg, and Joe Enright. Atlanta bandleader & tenor saxophonist Tyler Levy brings a stellar Southern quartet to Hotel Eve Jazz Club for a special performance celebrating the release of Tyler's new LP/album, Appointment in Atlanta. The group features Tyler on tenor saxophone, Nathanael Smith on piano, Steve LaSpina on bass, Ryan Ptasnik on drums, and special guest vocalist Maria Rossotto. Tyler's quartet will perform two sets of powerful, rarely heard/performed hard bop, spiritual jazz, and latin/world jazz including music by sax legends Gato Barbieri, Dexter Gordon, Billy Harper, Sonny Rollins, Pharoah Sanders, and Bobby Watson; selections from Tyler's new album/release Appointment in Atlanta; and a special arrangement of a Ray Barretto tune by Tyler's pianist/sideman Nathanael Smith. Sugar Bomb is a groove-driven jazz trio formed in 2023 in Asheville. Known for their modern, playful, and refreshing sound, the group ~Jacob Bruner, Eli Kahn and Joe Enright ~ draws from influences spanning jazz, fusion, hip-hop, classical, and electronic music, creating a high-energy, improvisation-forward sound. For this performance they are joined by multi-reedist Dylan Hannan (saxophone, clarinet, flute), a Florida native and University of Central Florida jazz studies alum who has shared stages with artists including Arturo Sandoval, Dave Liebman, and Emmet Cohen, and toured with the Glenn Miller Orchestra.

The Brian Felix Organ Trio is the jazz/funk organ group of the future. Rooted in the deep traditions of organ-driven jazz, funk, and soul, the trio blends reggae, samba, surf rock, gospel, and ambient soundscapes into a unified and forward-looking musical vision. Known for its telepathic interplay, deep grooves, and daring spontaneity, the trio has been captivating audiences throughout the southeastern United States. The group’s most recent release, Level Up (Slimtrim Records, 2025), a collection of all-original compositions, has been described as a “stylistic tour-de-force,” and its title track appeared as All About Jazz’s “Jazz Song of the Day.” Based in Asheville, NC (USA), Brian Felix is an internationally recognized jazz keyboardist and organist whose work spans groove-based improvisation, jazz-rock, and contemporary creative music. He was co-leader of OM Trio, an acclaimed San Francisco–based jazz-rock group that toured internationally from 1999–2004. Felix has performed at venues and festivals including the Fillmore Auditorium and Great American Music Hall (San Francisco), the Bowery Ballroom and Mercury Lounge (New York City), and the Aberdeen Jazz Festival (Scotland). His performance history includes collaborations with Joshua Redman, Charlie Hunter, Umphrey’s McGee, Sara Caswell, Billy Hart, Joe Russo, Kelly Sill, and Dave Fiuczynski. The regular working trio features guitarist Tim Fischer and drummer Evan Martin, both integral voices in shaping the group’s sound and musical chemistry.
