Steve LaSpina is a master bassist and composer who has been a vital presence on the New York and international jazz scene for over four decades. A longtime collaborator with legends including Stan Getz, Benny Carter, Phil Woods, Joe Williams, Mark Murphy, Clark Terry, Chet Baker, Randy Brecker, Pat Martino, and Jim Hall, LaSpina has appeared on more than 275 recordings as both sideman and leader. His decade-long partnership with Hall produced six acclaimed albums, including These Rooms featuring Tom Harrell. As a bandleader, he has released multiple recordings under his own name on SteepleChase and Ram Records with artists such as Fred Hersch, Ben Monder, and Jim McNeely. An internationally performing artist and dedicated educator, he has served on the faculty at William Paterson University since 1999. LaSpina’s playing is defined by deep swing, lyricism, and unwavering musical integrity.
Dr. Chris Beyt is an Asheville-based jazz guitarist, bassist, composer, recording engineer, and educator whose performances blend lyrical improvisation with modern jazz tradition. A Louisiana native, he earned degrees from Loyola University New Orleans, the University of North Texas, and the University of Illinois, where he completed a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Jazz Performance. Chris has performed alongside acclaimed artists including Dave Liebman, Randy Brecker, and Bob Sheppard, and has appeared at renowned venues and festivals such as Tipitina's, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, and Chicago's Jazz Showcase. In addition to his work as a performer and recording artist, he serves as Associate Professor of Jazz Guitar and Recording Arts at Western Carolina University, where he mentors the next generation of jazz musicians.
Weekdays: No upfront ticket charge is required for reservations; however, a $10 cover per guest will be collected at the door. You are welcome to stay for both sets with a single cover charge. If staying for both sets under a single seating chart, please ensure you reserve in both time slots. You may also choose to purchase admission at the door for more flexible arrival times.
