Jake Richter's New York City Quartet

Coming to us from New York City, the Jake Richter Quartet delivers a compelling blend of modern composition and improvisational depth. Led by drummer and composer Jake Richter, the group features Brandon Choi on trumpet, Evan Main on piano, and Dan Montgomery on bass.

Formed during Richter’s residency at the iconic 55 Bar, the ensemble has toured nationally and built a reputation for expressive, forward-thinking performances. Richter, who splits time between NYC and Chapel Hill, is an active bandleader and sideman, with appearances at venues like The Jazz Gallery, Barbés, and Bar Bayeux. His debut album Listen to the Birds is out now on Endectomorph Records.

A PhD candidate in Music Composition at Duke University and graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, Richter brings a thoughtful, contemporary voice rooted in the tradition of one of the world’s great jazz cities.

Weekdays: No upfront ticket charge is required for reservations; however, a $10 cover per guest will be collected at the door. You are welcome to stay for both sets with a single cover charge. If staying for both sets under a single seating chart, please ensure you reserve in both time slots. You may also choose to purchase admission at the door for more flexible arrival times.
