Peter Dimery's Soul Jazz Quartet & Special Guest Ben Eidson

The Peter Dimery Quartet (& Special Guest) brings together five accomplished regional musicians for an evening of groove-oriented jazz inspired by the soul-jazz tradition of Grant Green, Jimmy Smith, and the classic organ ensembles of the 1960s and beyond.

Featuring Peter Dimery and Ben Eidson on saxophones, Able Jones on organ, Josh Blake on guitar, and Joe Enright on drums, the group pairs a two-saxophone front line with the classic organ-guitar-drums format, drawing from soul-jazz, hard bop, funk, and improvisational music.

Peter Dimery: Saxophone

Peter Dimery is a tenor saxophonist whose work spans jazz, contemporary classical music, and soul. A graduate of Furman University, where he studied saxophone with Dr. Matt Olson, Dimery performed with the Furman Jazz Ensemble, Jazz Combo, Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Bergman Saxophone Quartet and was a recipient of the university’s Cunningham Award. He has been a longtime performer with Greenville’s Wheel Sessions and works regularly throughout the Western Carolinas as both a jazz and ensemble musician.

Ben Eidson: Saxophone

Ben Eidson is a saxophonist, improviser, and computer musician originally from Columbia, South Carolina. He studied Jazz Studies at the New England Conservatory, where his work included saxophone, electronic music, and improvised performance. Eidson has led his own quartet performing jazz standards and original compositions and works across both acoustic and experimental improvised music, with recording credits on alto and tenor saxophone.

Able Jones: Organ

Organist Able Jones draws from the rich tradition of the Hammond B-3, blending elements of soul-jazz, blues, post-bop, and Latin music. As leader of the Able Jones Organ Trio*, he has developed a sound centered on groove, improvisation, and the unmistakable warmth of the organ-trio tradition.*

Josh Blake: Guitar

Josh Blake is an Asheville-based guitarist, producer, and engineer with more than three decades of professional experience. A longtime fixture in Asheville’s music community, he has performed with artists including Warren Haynes, George Clinton, Eric Krasno, STS9, and Mike Gordon and leads the organ-trio projects JBOT (Josh Blake’s Organ Trio) and TeaPOT. Blake is also a Grammy-nominated engineer and works extensively from Echo Mountain Recording Studios in Asheville.

Joe Enright: Drums

Joe Enright is an Asheville-based drummer and jazz musician known for his deep sense of groove, musical sensitivity, and highly interactive approach to improvisation. A versatile collaborator throughout the region’s jazz community, Enright approaches the music as an ongoing conversation—grounding the ensemble while creating space for exploration and spontaneity.
